"Blogger News", huh... Well, my family has already had two cancer alerts this year. Last year we had a few as well, but two within a month? Fucking heck...

About

This is a webcomic based around the everyday life of me, Ian. It's actually my art project for this year, based on the theme 'gender', and so there'll be a few rudie-nudie bits, and discussion about genderqueerism and stuff... Ian is seventeen, genderqueer, pansexual, and lives in Melbourne, Australia.

First Day Back (Or: Why Ian Hates 12-Year-Old Girls)

Yeah - first day back at Mud-Hole Secondary College, my maths teacher asks me to carry some boxes full of school diaries to the staff room. On the way, some lost little year 7s pass me by, and one whispers loudly to the other: "You know, I reckon that was a girl in the boy's uniform,". Well, you know what, little girl? I reckon it's none of your goddamn business.

Artsy notes for Teachers and Interested Peoples:
I admit, I've had this sitting in my art book for a few days now. It's been super-hot, and I've been super-lazy. You can see, too, that the pencils didn't agree with the weather in some panels (panel 2, particularly. That green was a bitch). Anyway, this time I decided to go over edges with texta for fun. Kinda makes the colour pop.

"Macho Man"

The other day, I met up with my half-sister who had not received my Christmas present in the mail by the time Christmas came around. Turns out, it was something I'd been pining over for ages! And it made me feel so, so manly.

Also, triumph - I have lost enough weight that I can wear my binder without a push-up bra underneath. However, the underbust is now much too loose, so my boobs still fall out the bottom sometimes.

My mother was not impressed with my singing.

Art notes for teacher  and anyone else interested:

I didn't spend too much time on this, because in all honesty, I just wanted to get something up on the site. I doodled everything with greylead, went over in 0.4 fineliner and a permanent marker for some of the thicker bits and the full-black segments (like the inside of the doorway). Then, I coloured everything with some shitty two-dollar-store pencils, scanned it in, and set everything up in Photoshop.

Possible Difficulty

I probably won't be able to post for a few days, as my computer's keyboard has royally screwed up. I may get a cheapo plug-in one today, but who knows...?

Sorry for the inconvenience. Ian out.

Welcome

I'd like to welcome you all to Making The Most of It, my mini-comic, which will hopefully be a good way to explore my experiences with gender, and just life in general. Over the past year my life has gone from reasonably good to borderline crazy, and I've developed depression and anorexia from it. Those may appear at some point in this, and so I am issuing a warning now. If you are triggered by mentions of eating disorders, cancer, depression, or autism, get the fuck out now, while you still can.

Now, the comic may not update regularly. It probably won't have an ongoing storyline beyond 'life', but I do hope that you enjoy these little snippets of my life. I expect you'll also see posts of me whining and bitching about stuff in general, but feel free to ignore those at your leisure. I will also make the occasional post about comics that I read, and artists whom I take inspiration from, and I really think you should go check them out when I do mention them.

Anyway, Ian out. :)
